COLLABORATOR: AHRA Conference
STUDENTS GROUP: MArch Architecture
PROJECT TYPE: Research, multimedia design

In November 2017, BSoAD hosted the International Architectural Humanities Research Association (AHRA) Conference: Architecture, Festival & the City.

Academic conferences create a space for ideas, knowledge, meaning and conversation, after the event where and how do these things find their place in the world? This project uses the materials generated from the conference and shape them into something meaningful. During the proceedings there were performances, speech and images generated and connections made between architectural history, theory, culture, performance and urbanism through the lens of Festival.

Within the Co.LAB engagement, all the content was reviewed, sorted, edited and represented it in a number of possible forms; both a book in the Critiques series and a journal will be published and there is already an online platform.

This elective offers the opportunity to explore an editorial process for the published materials alongside a prestigious team of international academics. The roles within the project were varied, developing new skills within graphic design, copy-editing, academic reviewing and gaining an insight into the sphere of publishing.
