The Trends Pavilion is an annual event between BCU and Global Color, a research group providing latest trends and material developments for the design industry. BCU textile students work on 2 of the trends for SS/2016 and develop a number of samples to showcase in the pavilion. The work was shown at May Design Series exhibition at the Excel in London for the first time.

The pavilion houses both trends of Brink and Tropic, with the design representing each of their charactersitics. Brink represents the order and control with reference to classicalism and ordered architecture within the past. Tropic, on the other hand, portrays passion and vibrancy from equatorial countries. The project investigated the selected colour swatches, exploring complimentary relationships between them, and defining ‘room sets’ to house a number of lifestyle products that emerged from the students’ samples.

A modular structure was then designed to incorporate all these separate elements together in a unified display system with areas for presentation and informal meetings during the event.
