Antigone – Group 5 – Introduction

Scene 5.

We, group 5, are working on the set design of the last scene of the play Antigone. This is the most tragic scene full of irreversible consequences. King Creon finds out that all the members of his family are dead as a result of his orders. Sophocles’ play ends in disaster.

The play’s text has been rewritten by young people aged 15-19.

The set

Our set is situated in a factory that has been turned into a theatre space. The play itself is not going to be situated in only one stage. Some of the scenes will be displayed outside of the theatre. Scene 5 is one of them. It is going to be based under a shed and our main idea is for the audience to be around the set and to be a part of it.

These are some of the photos we took from a couple of our site visits. There are the shed, the open space in front of it and the entrance.
