Innovative Urban Lighting Week 6 Group 2 – Laser cut bats and light study

After making the cardboard bats the previous week, we concluded that bats with a pattern cut out would not only keep the weight down, but could potentially cast interesting patterns on the ground and canal with the sunlight. I designed them on photoshop and illustrator using the design from the structures opposite BCU, and cut them out of coloured plastic and tracing paper.

I took the bats down to the canal where I live, but the recent bad weather didn’t provide enough sunlight to do a light study, so I used a mirror instead.
We all preferred the cut out reflection as opposed to the one with the tracing paper on the back which created a solid reflection. (JL)
