Shell Structure
Shell Structures are commonly used in modernist designs as a representation of the capabilities of concrete. The designs tend to use single or doubled curves and natural forms in a sculptural way. More complex uses of shells come in the form of hyperbolic paraboloids and can be seen in the Design Museum, London, an example in Birmingham would have come in the ATV Restaurant which has now been demolished.
