“SOS Brutalism. Save the concrete monsters”

Exhibition at the Deutsches Architektur Museum in Frankfurt featuring one of the most influential architecture movements of the last century. SOS Brutalism attempts to raise a public awareness of this significant architectural movements and save some of the remaining examples facing inevitable demolition.

Perceived often as ugly, important Brutalist buildings are being demolished. The exhibition also featured recent demolition of Robin Hood Gardens, believed by professional to be one of the most significant Brutalist buildings in the UK.

One of the proposals mentioned during the exhibition was to select most significant and ugliest example of Brutalist architecture to preserve past lessons, to preserve achievements but mainly to learn from the past mistakes, to embrace the past.
