Modular Co-ordination

The term Modular Co-Ordination describes an attempted synergy between designers and manufacturers. Where component parts are ideally scaled to fit together in plans, and plans are designed around the use of the component parts. The standard first set to define a set scale of 10cm(4inches) which would be used by both parties however this did not come to fruition. The idea had manifested itself in a less dominating way in construction, where standard sizes of parts such as bricks, doors, blocks, etc. define aspects of a design. The Church at Carrs Lane could be seen as an application of Modular Co-ordination with its use of brick throughout the design at irregular angles.
