The first drawing workshop alongside the fashion students gave us the opportunity for focus our drawing skills on quickly recording the form of a figure. There were several exercises including drawing the outline of a silhouette and using contrasting colours to show areas of light and shadow.

I enjoy hand drawing, but struggle with onsite sketching. The techniques used, particularly the recording of shadow using contrasting colours could be really useful if applied to making quick sketches of buildings onsite.

Alongside improving our drawing skills the workshop focused our attention on the way garments fall on a figure. Drawings of this type could be used to better understand the type of garment we might aim to create in our individual projects.
