The edgelands are the spaces between the definitions and these are the places where the myths and urban legends manifest, and so to map this we wrote a poetic myth of a journey through these spaces. And used the nodes that we identified to frame the architecture of the myth. In this way the poem is the map of the edgelands, and the map of the edgelands is poetry.
We mapped the canal through stories that emerge from the canal and our associations that are based in myths.
Mythology was chosen as a suitable narrative form because it is generally rooted in some element of truth. It is defined as “an attempt to explain natural or social phenomenon, and typically involves supernatural beings or events.” It usually tells a journey of a hero on a quest, overcoming unusual obstacles in order to achieve the goal.
