In week two we undertook a site visit to investigate the existing layout of the ground floor waiting areas at Grand Central Station New Street Birmingham. This was based on information from previous studies into waiting/transit spaces by Hirsch and Thompson (2011).
We absorbed the experience of using the space by sitting on the seats provided and observing the behaviour of the public in the waiting/transit area.
The areas in the diagram highlighted in pink show the results of our observation regarding issues for improvement of the space.
