Asose Salih/ Birmingham Central Mosque

On Thursday 7th November we had discussion about how the site is being used and how we can connect the design to the surroundings. We think the carriageway divides the site and we wondered if we could break this barrier to make the whole surroundings to be easy for access to the mosque.

One suggestion was to move the car park from its original site to the other side of the carriageway and use the car park to extend the building.

Although some people feel a dome is not a necessity in the design I feel we should include it because it is iconic for Islamic mosques.  Christian churches have a traditional style which are based on religious themes and easily recognised in the city landscape.  We have a theme behind the form of the mosque and we are duty-bound as designers to keep it for future generations.
