With fresh water becoming an increasingly precious resource the way in which we manage our water use is becoming ever more important. The Earth holds approximately 1.4 billion km cubed, only 2.5% of which is fresh water. A large quantity of this precious fresh water is used for things that other water (e.g. grey water) could be substituted. The climate is changing and we are seeing our weather in the UK change rather dramatically with increased rainfall percentage which has led to an increase in sever flooding. Alot of this excess could be mitigated by a widespread use in rainwater harvesting systems for both domestic and industrial use. At Highbury Park, Kings Heath we BCU students have been given the chance to design a rainwater harvesting system that is not only practical but also attractive and compelling.
