The unfinished Article – Ceramics workshop

For this weeks session, we attended a ceramics workshop. We wanted to gain experience in using ceramics as other students in the university use it for projects.

Claire, the ceramics technician took us through how ceramics moulding works, safety and regulations and the possibilities with using ceramics within our projects.

The practical task consisted of starting with clay, moulding into half spheres and applying slips to glue the two halfs to create a full sphere. From there, we could have the freedom to take that process and use it to create our own creations. We made a vase, an apple and a simple bowl.

We used these shapes as inspiration for our abstract art work.
