For our first session of Co.Lab Zero Carbon we were introduced to Virtual Environment (VE) software and learnt the basics of the user interface toolbar. Initially learning how to draw simple prism geometries, from which shapes can be extruded. On these prisms, we were able to draw doors, windows and glazing, using azimuth for orientation. The ‘Apache’ tool incorporates dynamic simulation including, passive house program (PHP), air temperature control and solar shading calculation. These dynamic simulation tools run tests to provide data analysis, which we can use to improve and adjust the model to achieve zero carbon.
