While developing the competition brief, I have looked at the concept of qualities of light within spiritual spaces. It is evident that light has been a key consideration for hundreds of years within mosque architecture, as the directionality is said to focus ones attention on the unity of prayer.
Therefore, light will be the key focus within the competition brief which the designers must take into consideration while designing proposals for the prayer space in particular. It will be essential to point out that the types of light created for the prayer spaces must differ to the profane areas.
